Myanmar's tech talent pool is growing but remains highly competitive. At Joyoma, we've learned that filling a role with someone who can merely "do the job" is a recipe for mediocrity. To build platforms that define a nation's digital landscape, we need people who can have a 10x impact. This doesn't mean working 10x the hours; it means solving problems with 10x the ingenuity, creating solutions with 10x the relevance, and inspiring others with 10x the collaboration.

Our hiring process is designed to uncover this potential. Here’s what we prioritize:

1. Contextual Problem-Solving Over Abstract Quizzes:
We don't rely on solving algorithm puzzles on a whiteboard. Instead, we present candidates with real, scaled-down problems from our platforms. For a backend engineer: "How would you design the fare calculation service for our ride-sharing app, considering dynamic pricing during rain and cash payment reconciliation?" For a Product Manager: "How would you prioritize features for the next MyoThit update if data shows high browsing but low inquiry conversion?" We look for solutions that demonstrate an understanding of Myanmar's specific constraints and opportunities.

2. The "Builder" vs. "Operator" Mentality:
We need builders. An operator can maintain a system; a builder looks at a system and sees how to reinvent it for greater efficiency or user value. We ask about past projects: "What did you build from scratch?" "Where did you go beyond the spec to create something better?" "What did you break, and how did you learn from it?" We value the scars and pride of creation.

3. Cross-Functional Empathy:
Tech silos kill innovation. We assess how a candidate thinks about other roles. Would a designer understand the data implications of their UI? Would a data scientist think about how their model's output will be displayed to a non-technical merchant on YangonPOS? We use team-based interview exercises to observe this empathy in action.

4. Purpose Alignment:
We're not just building software; we're building infrastructure. We openly discuss our mission to empower Myanmar's digital economy. We listen for genuine passion. Do they get excited about increasing a farmer's access to market via Zay Myanmar, or about helping a small shop owner streamline their day with YangonPOS? That intrinsic motivation is what sustains people through tough challenges.

Building a 10x team is our single most important investment. By focusing on these principles, we assemble not just a group of skilled individuals, but a cohesive unit driven by a shared mission to solve hard, meaningful problems for the country we serve.
